The M4A1 is an assault weapon in Spec Ops: The Line.

CampaignEdit

The M4A1 is more or less an all-round weapon; it is has low to medium damage to compensate for the excessive fire rate and magazine size, an extremely high accuracy rate and is effective at medium to long ranges. It can be equipped with a suppressor, making it useful for stealthy engagements. It has a large 40-round magazine in campaign, but only 120 spare rounds, so the player can burn out their ammunition quickly if they are not conservative with their shots. In early chapters, when fighting against the refugees, ammunition for the M4A1 can only be obtained from ammo crates and Execution . However, it eventually becomes one of the most common weapons in the game and is frequently used by members of the 33rd.

MultiplayerEdit

The M4A1 appears in multiplayer, being unlocked at Level 27. It is equipped with a 30-round magazine, as well as being able to carry 120 spare rounds. Unlike the one in the campaign, the suppressor cannot be equipped in multiplayer.

TriviaEdit

  • In early stages of the game, the M4A1 had an EOTech sight attached, but this was removed from the final game for unknown reasons.
  • The M4A1 can be shown being held by Walker in most cutscenes, regardless of whatever weapon the player has equipped.
  • The M4A1 has two rear sights, but one of the sights is folded down.
  • The barrel is much longer than the normal 14" barrel found on an M4A1, and the nature of the M4A1 in-game more closely resembles an M16A3, used exclusively by US Navy SOCOM forces, such as Navy SEALs and Marine Force Recon.
  • The rear sight of the M4A1 resembles the rear portion of an M16/M4-style carrying handle.
